When you hear the "meow" that's not a cat, and the Catbird is coming close and demanding to know where the woodpecker feeder is .... then you know it's an old acquaintance from past years. Good to see him back. I think by now our usual garden bird gang has largely returned.

Almost a million birds, an estimated 954,200, crossed our county overnight.

Peak migration was an estimated 112,800 birds in flight, traveling 28 mph north northwest at 4,000 feet at 1:10AM.

What a night for bird migration! After a long week of cold weather, birds are once again on the move north.

An estimated 490,300 birds crossed our county last night. Peak migration was an estimated 65,600 birds in flight traveling north at a speed of 27 mph at 2,500 feet at 12:40am.
