@boris @jessmartin A couple years ago I made this map, which smells a bit like a #WardleyMap, of various techs around #metaverse/#blockchain. (It also included #Spritely and #ActivityPub.) I feel like I need to add the different components of #DXOS and other current players....

@strbytes not very familiar with Lisp, so dunno how useful this is to you, but wanna point you to the #Spritely project and esp. where they are bringing #Guile to #WebAssembly:
https://spritely.institute/news/guile-on-web-assembly-project-underway.html
In the last #Lisp #GameJam two different Spritely #Wasm submissions were made:
#Wireworld: https://spritely.institute/news/hoot-wireworld-live-in-browser.html
#Fantasary: https://spritely.institute/news/lisp-game-jam---fantasary---prototyping-an-object-world--tcp-netlayer.html
#spritely #webassembly #lisp #gamejam #wasm #WireWorld #Fantasary #guile
@django I think by depicting possible futures and how to work towards them.
#Spritely project did that well, by outlining a range of subprojects building on top of each other and working towards the #Fantasary.
https://spritelyproject.org/#fantasary
Also talking about ideas, but also tracking and evolving them gradually and collectively. Social coding forum tracks ideas for a future #IdeationHub https://coding.social/ecosystem/projects/ideationhub and @helge started #FediverseIdea repo https://codeberg.org/fediverse/fediverse-ideas and is automating this.

#Gaming in the #Fediverse?
That is what @autodidaddict is pondering as well in https://kevinhoffman.blog/post/fediverse_gaming
Often discussed.. yet there aren't many federated #games out there yet. The #ActivityPub protocol is not the issue.. it can be extended to support exciting multiplayer #gameplay.
@houkime at one time organized #FediJam on itch.io .. maybe someone can pick that up.. See e.g. https://itch.io/jam/fedijam-4
And most exciting vision is #Spritely #Fantasary by @cwebber see: https://spritelyproject.org
#gaming #fediverse #games #activitypub #gameplay #fedijam #spritely #Fantasary
Though #spritely, started by AP co-author Christine Webber, has a much broader scope, it began with investigating in direction of realizing #Fantasary as a vision of what should be possible with next-protocols. Connectivity to AP fedi is still part of it. https://spritelyproject.org/#fantasary
@vyr yes, I think I read the paper you mention a long time ago. Unfortunately the development of the #Spritely technology is big in scope and still at academic levels that are above my head. The prio for an AP integration may been dialed down in favor of a generic technology standard and the #OCapN. https://github.com/ocapn
Not an answer to your question, but #ForgeFed is looking into #CapnProto as an intermediate technology to use until Spritely becomes available.
https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks/t/forgefed-nlnet-grant-application/2598/7
#spritely #ocapn #forgefed #capnproto
@vyr well, it does in a way, as #Spritely #Mandy is planned to become an integration to #ActivityPub.
https://spritelyproject.org/#mandy
But if it isn't useful, then pls ignore.. only trying to help.
I don't know if this will help you, or is the same as the #OCap article your refer to, but @spritelyinst are dedicated to take ocaps to the next level.
See: https://spritely.institute/static/papers/spritely-core.html
They have a #Spritely IRC channel where some true experts exchange thoughts.
On the old https://spritelyproject.org is also interesting information to find.
> Making Sense of VRChat, the "Metaverse" People Actually Like
https://redirect.invidious.io/watch?v=4PHT-zBxKQQ&listen=false
#VRChat had better become federated if the community doesn't want the same thing happening to it as what happened to #Tumblr.
I'm really looking forward to the #Spritely vision of the #metaverse.
But also I hope the hardware and network requirements drop for virtual worlds.

Yes, the Guile->WASM project (Guile Hoot) is not only started, fast progress is happening thanks to what a speedy hacker @wingo is!! It's early days but here's what we got:
- Here's the general repository where updates are happening: https://gitlab.com/spritely/guile-hoot-updates/
- Types and operations have already been largely defined https://gitlab.com/spritely/guile-hoot-updates/-/blob/main/design/ABI.md
- WASM assembler, early days: https://gitlab.com/spritely/guile-hoot-updates/-/blob/wip-wassemble/module/wasm/assembler.scm
- Example files; you can run tests. There's even a "guix shell"! https://gitlab.com/spritely/guile-hoot-updates/-/tree/main/examples
You can follow that repo for updates, or also comment in IRC in #spritely on irc.libera.chat for ephemeral chatting. But expect things are flowing fast and the space is mostly being mapped out right now. It'll be a bit until we have something people can "play with" easily, but you can at least get the sense of the exploration space! :)
@cybeardjm On a somewhat tangential note: are there (formalized) local exchange trading systems there?
@cwebber talked about this a few times in relation to #Spritely .
Now watching:
@dthompson explaining his community garden demo built on #Spritely
@spritelyinst
@gasrios on the context of identity I think you might want to take a look at #Spritely: https://spritelyproject.org/
Sitting by myself at a dive bar, reading Spritely documentation like a normal human being and seriously considering Spritely for a renarration (adding alternate semantics to web entities leveraging W3C annotations) project!

@spritelyinst har just släppt Goblins 0.10 🥳 det gör det enkelt att bygga distribuerade och säkra appar.

Attention Router: I really like this concept. In some ways this is what I try to do. It mentions #Spritely https://www.robinsloan.com/lab/attention-router/ #AttentionRouter #Web

@jamesmarshall
A) To federate with Mastodon, the server component needs to answer an incoming request for the public key from Mastodon. That's not in the spec, but it's a considerable barrier to home servers and p2p projects
B) The Mastodon privacy model is based around reputation, which doesn't mix well with other models. I'd ask some questions about #Spritely before committing to yet another protocol in the fediverse, but you need to plan like there's a bridge even if you don't bridge in order to preserve the privacy characteristics you want for your app
Hi @erincandescent 👋
@ignis just pointed me to your great article on a "better moderation system for the social web". Thanks for that write-up!
I keep track of some notes in a #FediverseFutures topic on Federated Moderation, and will add a reference.
Ignis also dug up a great piece of writing by Christine Webber relating to #Spritely that you likely know about. It is in the same vein as yours, but has solution in the vNext of the #OCapN fedi.
