With improving weather conditions we hiked up to SOTA DM/SX-014 Lausche/Luž in right on the border from to the (POTA DA-0049 Zittauer Gebirge Nature Park, DLFF-0747 Lausche) and only had rain for about 20 minutes. Strong RFI on the mountaintop made it difficult to work in , but were nice.

The last time I fired up my I made a couple of contacts who reported really weird audio. Well, that was discouraging but I didn’t have time to troubleshoot so I shut it down til “later.”

Today I booted it up with a dummy load and my 7300 next to it with some headphones and yep - pretty much sounded like a robot. 🤖

Well, with all these knobs and dials (and software) come a lot of cool features … and a lot of opportunities to screw things up.*

There’s a drop-down menu in the audio settings with many, many presets. Apparently “Default” is muy roboto with the included mic. I need to set the Default FHM-3 mic setting and I sounded human again.

Live and learn.

*I screw plenty up on my much simpler radios, too.
