Mit auf dem Programm: Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (#NSERC), ein Memorandum of Understanding #MoU mit dem Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (#SSHRC) und die Eröffnung der 23. @academicchatter I urge researchers based in #Canada to reply to this survey from the tri-council funding agencies.

My two cents: most researchers want their #Research to be #OpenAccess and publicly available but there is a severe shortage of funds to cover APC charges by journals. Many institutions do not provide funding for this and there is very little external funding to support it - even from the funding councils - including #SSHRC.

The podcast is called "kikapekiskwewin" and season one is the result of a two day conference that was held in June 2022. This season focuses on conversations with presenters from the conference, about why cultural values are so important to Indigenous peoples involved in research with Indigenous peoples.

"The #SSHRC #Doctoral #Fellowship increased to $20 000 two decades ago and has remained frozen ever since. The (#NSERC) #Canadian Graduate Scholarship (#CGS) program was introduced in 2003 and the dollar amount has stayed the same, meaning that #inflation has cut the value of these #scholarships by a third."

...means that it's currently abysmal in #Canada.

I got 16k in the early 1980s from SSHRC topped up to 18 by the univ.
