Have been making myself use #StageManager on the #Mac for several weeks, and overall I'm liking it. Still feels like I'm fighting it sometimes, but the ability to shift-click to add items is helpful. Similar conceptually to Spaces, but defaults to keeping things separate instead of together. Can help with focus.
In iPadOS 17, Apple fixed the worst thing about Stage Manager / The iPad is much closer to being a true multitasking machine. But Stage Manager still doesn’t feel like part of iPadOS.

Installed iPadOS 17 today, appears very stable so far. Really enjoying greater flexibility in Stage Manager to place windows where I want them. I would like to see the Exposé feature from trhe Mac come to iPad. I would really like to see an overview of my application windows and be able to select the one I want. Could there be a shortcut for this? Who would like to see Exposé come to iPad? #iPad #iPadOS17 #StageManager #Exposé

I’ve been playing with #iPadOS17 since the public beta was released by Apple
I think this article by The Verge summarizes the best my own feelings with #StageManager: it’s a lot better compared to the previous iteration (which was straight up unusable), but Apple is still not there yet
Some limitations are really odds, for instance why can’t you have a given app in two different stages?
I probably won’t use Stage Manager for now, but if it improves, maybe next year!

I never thought I’d say this, but Stage Manager on the Mac is growing on me.

I’m currently visiting family without my desktop computer, so on a whim I finally had an opportunity to connect my #iPad to an external display, and use #StageManager as my “computer” this morning.
I can’t comment on how it feels on #macOS, or how janky it might have been during the betas. But as it stands right now, this actually feels like a pretty great experience to me.
Any time I think I've mastered using #StageManager on #MacOS my clumsy motor skills say "Naw ye huvnae". Dragging with a mouse always fiddly to me.

While #stagemanager isn’t the best mechanic for even a large display and window management when it comes to #ipados, it does make it more efficient compared to turning it on default on a 11” iPad screen.
Also, iPad OS on a large screen feels a little more usable. Maybe this is the default mode for iPad. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
i swear, #StageManager on mac os is kinda nice in some circumstances but MADDENING most of the time. why does opening a new window always swoosh away my current set of windows, forcing me to (tip) shift-click my previous set to add the new window to that set?
ALSO why did opening safari from spotlight open a set of windows that doesn’t include safari? that one feels like a bug, but honestly i can’t tell what’s a bug and what’s intended behavior at this point.
Stage Manager Should just Exit, Stage Left
I have been using Stage Manager on my Macs on a daily basis for well over a month now, and I have… feelings about it.(...)

Trying out Stage Manager once again — this time on my iPad Pro.
I don’t get it: wouldn’t it be simpler for people use a physical keyboard on their iPads (of course everybody has one on their Macs) and learn Command-Tab to switch apps instead of this conceptual morass? #macOS #iPadOS #StageManager #MoreLikeStageMangler

In retrospect, #StageManager in #iPadOS looks less like a new system of window management and more like a way to get #iPad app developers to prepare their apps for #VisionPro. #Apple #WWDC23

@viticci Check out the session “Keep up with keyboard" https://developer.apple.com/wwdc23/10281 - I think this explains many of the limits of Stage Manager last year. #wwdc23 #stagemanager
Well #StageManager looks interesting again with the new #IOS17 dev beta.
I actually bought a refurb. IPad Pro 12.9 just so I could use it last year, and was disappointed. Maybe this year?
