All along, I always tried to get my mom to read it, to see what she thought about it, to no avail.
But, last year I was browsing through Reddit and I found that r/bookclub would be doing a readalong through August. I translated the post for my mom and that convinced her to read it, as long as I read it as well, so I took the chance. She read my high school copy in Spanish and I picked up the ebook from #StandardEbooks, translated by Eleanor Marx-Aveling. 3/x

Also plugging one of my favorite online projects, #StandardEbooks https://standardebooks.org/ So many excellent #books there, go and browse!
@Big_Worker @theotherotherone @bookstodon
#Standardebooks has a process to produce very high quality ebooks...meaning, they have strict copyedit standards and stick to them. Usually a pleasure to read.
On #LibGen you can get anything from a raw scan, to a Gutenberg one somebody uploaded, to an amateur effort...or maybe even the one from Standard. It's hunt and peck there.
Took me a year, but my production of Beatrix Potter’s US public domain “Tale of” stories has been released. I wrote alt text for all 602 images 😊 https://standardebooks.org/ebooks/beatrix-potter/short-fiction #standardebooks
Right now, the quality of free e-books is being discussed. #standardebooks was rightly featured as a wonderful project by @paulox . In addition to the aspects mentioned so far, the quality of the e-book also depends on the text basis. In my view, the choice for each title should be well justified. I don't see that in the project. Did I miss something?
I’ve downloaded a few #StandardEBooks over the past couple of years, and they’re always excellent quality.
You should fully jump on that shit.
@bookstodon For what is worth, the more popular books should be appearing for free as #ebooks in #ProjectGutenberg (https://www.gutenberg.org) and #StandardEbooks (https://www.standardebooks.org) very soon.
PG does straight transcriptions, without any editorial changes (generally, since there are exceptions), while SE tries to produce beautiful ebooks that have a more homogeneous look and style (quotes, citations, how to format letters, etc.) .
There should be cheap paper editions by others also.

Just read 'You Can't Win' by Jack Black.
First published in 1926 it is now made available freely in many forms by #StandardEbooks at https://standardebooks.org/ebooks/jack-black/you-cant-win .
"Jack Black recounts his gradual journey towards a life of crime and his adventures within the lawless underworld as a professional thief, hobo, and member of the notorious “yegg” safecracking brotherhood in the American and Canadian West between the 1880s and 1920s."
The Communist Manifesto @ Standard Ebooks
Standard Ebooks takes public domain works and publishes them as highly polished free ebooks. Their edition of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels' The Communist Manifesto is a very pleasing read.
