-- gaining a tetracycline efflux pump by HGT is super costly for Staph aureus in low oxygen environments
-- treatment with tetracyclines prevents evolutionary adaptation to low oxygen (via gyrB mutation)
Possibly explains why tetracyclines remain useful treatments for Staph aureus infections that are often characterised by #hypoxia
