Something I posted on a #StarFleetBattles board in response to another post (on litterboxes for Kzin and Lyran ships). I am inordinately proud of this bit of extemporanea.

Do people use those rules? I thought they ignored them, like the rule any Legendary Federation Officer is a Vulcan on 1-, and, if so, at the start of each turn, you must roll 2 dice and on a result of 2, they enter Pon Farr and are treated as a normal officer, unless a legendary doctor treats them, which destroys one lab square and has a 7- chance of working per such destroyed square, with a 16-impulse time requirement. (Way back in Expansion 1, there were also rules by which a Legendary Captain could duel the afflicted, but they were dropped in later editions.)

The one time we used them,we got into a big argument over if the ‘treatment’ option applied when the Legendary Doctor *was* the Vulcan.
