Day 5's #RPGaDAY2023 prompt is "Oldest game you've played." I believe that would be #StarFrontiers; I have never (to my memory) played #bx #dnd; the first foray into #dnd was Second Edition AD&D.

I've played a few retro-clones; and was in a GenCon session playing red box characters with Frank Mentzer running the session. But I checked and Star Frontiers came out in 1982 and red box came out in 1983.

For "First #RPG #GM": That would be Brian. We had moved away from our child-hood friends, but still kept in touch by inviting them over a few times a year. We'd pick them up and drive the 40 minutes to spend the weekend at our house.

Brian ran an introductory adventure for #StarFrontiers. I fell in love with #ttrpg (and the Dralasite)

Other attempts to fit Snobol's orbit around Venturi from Bugs in the System, #StarFrontiers , the shape of the orbit as drawn didn't fit the other orbits and given system properties, but works out if it's tilted and you presume the drawn orbit is a projection down to 2D.

Back during the Artemis I mission, I tracked the progress of the flight by drawing it on a #StarFrontiers scale map. Note that the ISS (also plotted) is basically on top of the Earth at this scale

The #StarFrontiers map of Alcazzar (original from the module is the bottom panel here) remapped to a sphere. Star Frontiers modules never really had a consistent way of showing planet maps.

28) Although published in 1983, it didn't reach the UK till 1984, so that was when I finally game across the space exploration and combat system for "Star Frontiers". "Knight Hawks" also introduced a Sathar invasion of the United Planetary Federation as a campaign.

When I was a teenager playing #StarFrontiers, many of my characters had #gyrojet pistols because "gyrojet" sounded cool and futuristic to me.
