I usually consider it bad form to judge a story by what it's not, but #StarTrekFirstContact is right there, so I'll just observe that it's a little sad that #FirstContact ends with #Data and #Picard reflecting on the #BorgQueen as almost that crazy ex girlfriend that had some admirable qualities, whereas #StarTrekPicard S3 ends with just hate and revulsion at her abuse.

A sentiment of the times? A little sad for a #StarTrek story.🤔

Rewatched #StarTrekFirstContact tonight and I had forgotten how ugly the Enterprise-E was. I hate it.

Absolutely thrilled that Lt. Barclay made an appearance.
And my favourite background ensign (always at the recitals!), who I just learned though IMDB is called Ensign Jae.

Also brief spot of Adam Scott, and Dum Dum Dougan as Lt. Hawk!

Next up is Insurrection which I have no memory of, so that'll be interesting!

Thought it’d be fun to watch Star Trek: First Contact. Although it’s been a while, I’ve seen it enough times I can nearly quote it. I love this movie. It really did right by the characters. Plus Lt. Hawk. 😍. And hilarious Deanna!

#AllStarTrek I watched #StarTrekFirstContact this weekend. Haven't seen it for decades, and I did not remember the whole "crazy #Borg ex-girlfriend back to destroy #Locutus' world by banging his best friend #Data" subtext.

That movie is crazy. Like... damn bruh.😖

...and it ends with two fellas remembering their crazy control-freak ex-girlfriend that they unfortunately had to kill before she destroyed their lives.

As if the depiction of #Picard's assimilation into the #Borg wasn't traumatic enough, #StarTrekFirstContact turned it into some sort of recovered memory, sexual assault by the #BorgQueen when he was #Locutus.🤢

The craziest part is that when a traumatized Picard finally confronts the Queen, and gives in, the Queen is like, "Hm, no thanks, I got a new boo." And then Data proudly stands next to her, "He will make an excellent drone, honey."😳

Lotta #AbuseSurvivor in this #StarTrek movie.😖

@MirrorAyako Don't forget about consulting with #Data! He:
1) interfaced directly with the #Borg collective thru #Picard in #TheBestOfBothWorlds, and hacked them to sleep,
2) led the Borg with Lore for bit, and
3) I'm pretty sure banged the #BorgQueen in #StarTrekFirstContact.

You know in #StarTrekFirstContact, that hull scene where they fight over the dish is pretty dramatic, but I think #Picard's crew might have left a bunch of #Borg orbitting the Earth.

#FridayHeretics The zoom in to Clint on the cliff balcony reminds me of the zoom in to #Picard in #StarTrekFirstContact where he remembers being a #Borg, but does not remember that he was rescued by Data putting those silly Borg to sleep, which caused their intrusion detection to self-destruct their cube, kinda like #JamesBond's Lotus got blown up in #ForYourEyesOnly when some goons tried to break in.🤔

Anyway, this movie looks nice.🙂

- mix of nostalgia that simultaneously feels fun and familiar (because #StarTrekFirstContact and #StarTrekTheNextGeneration was the first Trek I watched) but also a reminder of the limitations of the 1980s-1990s in terms of the types of tropes there were and the types of roles women got
- I’m a #StarTrekDiscovery fan and can’t help feeling weird when some fans say TNG/Picard season 3 is real/best Trek when there was backlash against Discovery
