Watching #StartTrek The Next Generation I just realized that the new #Bing search is going to be similar to asking questions to the ship's computer.

#StartTrek TOS S3 E3 "the Paradise Syndrome" is so problematic but it does seem weirdly prescient in describing an extinction level event caused by asteriod impact. The Chicxulub event wouldn't be described for another 12 years.

Since it's a new year, I suppose I should introduce myself. I've been a software engineer professionally for 23 years, longer if you count the years from when I learned to program in elementary school on my TI-99/4A.

I have a love for computers, space/astrophysics, history, video games and mountain biking. I'm a huge #StartTrek fan, though I have yet to watch Strange New Worlds. Most of my free time these days is spent with my wife and kids.

@SpockResists One of my favorite #StartTrek episode is #TOS “City on the Edge of Forever” because it contains this bit of human frustration from Spock. It’s also where we get to see a little more humanity from Kirk & drama from the writers (this episode won an Emmy)
The social commentary of the late 60s is written in these shows. It was a time of great upheaval & social awakening. History was being made with Civil, women’s & LGBTQ rights, along with war protests, The Summer of Love & Woodstock

#starttrek discovery needs to ditch the season-long story arcs and go back to the weekly episodes that made star trek great. Nu-trek has too many filler episodes that only exist to pad out a story that could have been done in one or two episodes into a 13-episode snorefest.
