📣 Announcement!
Google is funding me to design a new #StateOfHTML survey, to complement the well-established #StateofJS & #StateofCSS surveys.
As a believer in transparency and co-design, I’m opening up the design process to community input:
#stateofhtml #stateofjs #stateofcss
Heute Abend starten @spittank und ich um 20:00 unseren ersten Stream! Wir besprechen die Ergebnisse der aktuellen #stateofjs Umfrage! Reicht dafür ne Stunde? 🤔

I'll be joining GirlCode Break Time later today (in about one hour) on
Storyblok's Twitch channel to talk about the #StateOfJS. Come join us!
I had the idea to check the WordPress developer survey, and it turns out its gender balance is much better than #StateOfJS. Here's also Stack Overflow for comparison, which is similar to #StateOfJS.
What could account for such a difference?

An example of the kind of fine-grained demographics analysis that's now possible with the new #StateOfJS filters.
(This is not a pre-rendered chart, anybody can use these filters to generate their own insights)
I've been working on some really cool new features for the #StateOfJS site.
They deserve a whole blog post/video but here's a preview: you can now view averages for a facet.
For example, here's average yearly salary (in thousand USD) per industry sector.
Stateofjs results out! Check where the web dev industry is heading:

Something just doesn't smell right about the #StateOfJS survey results this year. I wonder if it was because it was open right during the total meltdown of Twitter. I didn't even take it myself. I did the CSS one earlier though.
I don't think it's very representative of the web development industry as a whole. Feels entirely like a trend bubble.
Further on #StateofJS, looking at the questions & results, I can compare metrics between tools, but the big picture is missing: how do JS developers build websites? How many use a framework vs smaller libraries? How many use JAMStack vs a classic architecture? What do they build?
Looking at the #StateOfJS results, and I’m shocked at the gender breakdown. Haven't seen breakdowns this bad for a while. Selection bias, or are there actually so few non-male JS developers?
