Is it simply cost-prohibiting (BoM, R&D,...), ruling out their use in commercial off-the-shelf space, or is there more to it than meets the eye (pardon the pun)? I'm asking because I'm #MindBlown each time I think about the light available and light actually used with the now prevalent #Bayer filter (or similar) #CMOS or #CCD sensors, and how much that affects resolution, noise and dynamic range in photos I take as the #photosite density approaches diffraction limit.
