On our way to Oregon, Brett and I started the day at Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park in Nevada. Under a shelter are 9 partial skeletons of the giant #Triassic #ichthyosaur Shonisaurus popularis. With a length of up to 15 meters, Shonisaurus was one of the largest known ichthyosaurs. #roadtrip #paleontology #stateparks #fossil

A little-known program that aims to give low-income Minnesotans a chance to check out state parks for free is proving successful two years after it began, according to state Department of Natural Resources leaders. For the nature and scenery part, #stateparks (USA) can be nice: low traffic during the week, scenic roads with some fun hills and curves.

This photo is one of my favorite. The little blue heron was standing all elegant, as usual, when a student gust of wind hit it hard enough to ruffle its feathers, giving the bird a very surprised look for a minute or so.
