Are there any good conferences / meetups with an open in the or virtual?

There are a few projects I've been working on which I'd love to give talks about and share with the community (not Angular related). Could be talking about any/all of:

1. - A different take on hydration in an HTML-first world. github.com/dgp1130/HydroActive
2. - A ruleset serving as a fast and scalable . github.com/dgp1130/rules_prere
3. - A no-tooling, web standard-based approach to HTML over the wire. blog.dwac.dev/posts/html-fragm

Greatly appreciate boosts for reach!

Is it possible to teach a new content type? Use case: Have Hugo reading JPEG files, extract EXIF data and generate posts from the image and data.

I understand Hugo does not support plugins. Any other means to do this?

looking at why my site crashed when doing plugin update and thinking it was a version compatibility, when it was a hosting issue running out of disk quota.

When unlimited isn't really unlimited on our reseller account. Guess this is why I also prefer now.

After 10+ years of building my personal website with Jekyll, I took the leap and wrote my own static site generator based on makesite.py. It's great to work in the Python ecosystem now. I never got the hang of proper Gem-management, so updating Jekyll was always a bit of a chore.
I also updated the design, following the guidelines from brutalist-web.design/ by @davetron5000.

Static site generator for a blog? What's the best choice and why? To write about code, interaction design and DIY-stuff.

Been slowly converting an old site, which I wrote two decades ago in , over to and I'm impressed how easy it has been so far as I can simply reuse my HTML views. Not to mention using a is going to save me money on hosting bills

Is there anything as simple as MDWiki for static site generation that is still maintained? It's a static site generator in that takes as input. Think but 100% client side and much simpler.

Ok ihr hippen Internetleute, was benutzt man heutzutage um eine schöne statische Webseite / Landingpage zu bauen? Ich bin noch auf dem Stand, dass jekyll der heiße Shit ist, aber ist schon eine Weile her.

Who'all's got a cool static homepage or website? (... or, okay, fine, page, y'all can play, too).

I don't mean fancy-amazing-professional websites ... I mean fun, retro, eclectic, "this is my gameroom" kinda sites. I'm looking for old-school, pre-Facebook (hell, pre-MySpace) stuff. When real nerds still ruled the Internet.

Bonus points if you built it yourself from scratch, but |s like totally count, too.

I don't have a cool one, yet, but I'ma go ahead and throw @Wuzzy under the bus as an example of what I'm talkin' about.

wuzzy.codeberg.page/

And for those of you that didn't know ... if you have a Codeberg (or GitHub) account ... *you have your own personal website*, too. Free. Complementary. Just waiting for you to put stuff on it.

How cool is that?!

Creating blog content with S-exp feels different. Yeah, I use S-exp instead of Markdown.

The few times I’ve used the I’ve rapidly become bogged down in off-putting low level detail. I just want to write words, select a theme, run a command, and push the resulting nice-looking site!
What can I check out that would give me a closer-to-hosted-Wordpress level of “choose theme; type words; have website” initial effort (even if that absolutely implies a low degree of customisation/flexibility)?

I had an idea (that I guess is not necessarily new): Build a collection website like but using a file as a data source instead of a CSV. Has anyone built something like this yet? Any recommendations for a usable ?

I'm also starting to design CSS for my old tutorials. I have intentionally tried to keep their HTML simple over the years in order to make redesigns like this easier. But I still occassionally threw in a few unique tags here and there. For now I'll just make them bright red and figure out how I want them to look later.

One of the reasons I want to try a static site generator is so I can write these things easily using MarkDown and the generator will convert it into HTML for me. One way to ensure the HTML stays simple is to have something else write it for you.

I think I'll try out another generator called Hugo. It's very similar but it might give me more options.

So I tried out a static-site generator called Zola. It could theoretically re-create my site as separate HTML files. The idea is that I would write all my stuff as MarkDown files and Zola creates folders and HTML based on the templates I give it.
