Wirbel et al. finally conducted a comprehensive study on methods for differential abundance testing in microbial data sets with alarming and super interesting findings - they provide new means to simulate data sets which are indistinguishable from real data sets and find: simple linear models and wilcoxon test perform best 🤯 . I love it!
