Amerikaans gitarist en stichtind lid van #TheBarKays, hij schreef ook het nummer #SoulFinger van het gelijknamige album waarmee deze groep wereldwijd bekendheid vergaarde.
Ze werden de tweede sessieband bij #Stax en de begeleidingsband van #OtisRedding en #SamAndDave.
In 1967 werden ze de touringband van Otis.
Op 10 december 1967 stapt hij ook mee in het vliegtuig met Otis en de band, en overleeft de crash niet.

Al zijn vader was orkestleider van een bigband, en de jonge Al begon al in 1940 mee te spelen met zijn vader in deze band.
Later zou hij gaan spelen bij trompetist #WillieMitchell zijn band. Hier ontmoet hij #SteveCropper en #DonaldDuckDunn, en ook #BookerTJones, deze haalt hem naar het #Stax label.
Terwijl zal hij ook voor Mitchell blijven spelen.
Bij Stax vormt hij samen met Jones, Duck en Cropper het legendarische

Normally I use an old pair of #Stax “earspeakers” when working, but I like the added sound isolation you get when using earphones — especially compared with open-back #headphones. Working from home that’s something I sometimes just really need to be able to focus better.
What do you use to listen to music? :)
