Previously, I was an automation engineer for a healthcare company. We built out data-validation & testing automation software. Since then, I've been a #photographer & commercial #drone pilot then transitioned into full-time dad-life

I’m Dennis and I live in Jersey City. I like #cooking #games #math #comedy and a bunch of other stuff.

Professionally, I do #nlproc #nlp #ml in #finance #quant, but I’m a #stayathomedad to a cute little velociraptor until November. Say hi!

Cat woke me up at 4:15am. Thought he was hungry, but no;— he had no interest in food, he just wanted to go out into the apartment hallway & spend an hour sniffing the neighbors doors. Made & packed the kids lunches for school, made a pot of coffee, cleaned the kitchen. Then had to clean poop off the cat's butt bc long hair cat problems. And it's now 6:09am and I am ready to go back to sleep. But now the cat *is* hungry and need to wake up the kids. #stayathomedad

I do my best to be a #peacefulparent -- but some days (like today), everything annoys me.

I love my kids dearly, but man...I really don't like 'em today.

So when I first learned about Mastodon, I said “I don’t have time for another social media account when I already don’t use them.” But now I’m a #StayAtHomeDad so I have more time for these things, and I’m learning to lean on and give back to my #Community. The thing I've really had to learn and focus on recently as a full-time homemaker / stay-at-home dad is being able to shut off the impulse toward "productivity" when necessary.

When it's just me, there's always some other bit of cleaning or cooking or laundry to be done, but switching modes with the girls and allowing for quiet presence without itching to start the next chore or task has been super important for me.

I’m a recovering #gifted child from a dysfunctional home. #cPTSD and #aduldchild treatment underway.
Father of an #autistic kid.
Started #programming at 12, then #livesound engineering and later, theatrical #sounddesign.
Went back to computers as a #helpdesk tech.
Spent over a decade as a #stayathomedad and am now a school #secretary.
I have several #3dprinter s and #raspberrypi s.

I've missed a lot of streaming and painting lately because my son, then me, then my daughter, all got sick and I (rightly) put parenting and health first. In a lot of ways it sucks - I miss painting and being creative, and I really missed Warfaire Weekend and everyone I was planning to meet and teach there.

It's not all bad though - I get to spend extra time with this cuddly little nugget.
