I'm watching #StayTooned and the second episode is about how kids cartoons were merchandised. And I'm surprised how much the merchandise drove the programs... Program Length Commercials, they're called. PLCs.

I guess it's notable when a cartoon gets popular ... and the merchandise takes a couple of years to arrive because it *wasn't* merch first.
