He can be removed by a two-thirds vote of the House of Representative. If #NewYork #Republicans do not act to remove him, voters will hold them (Elise #Stefanik) accountable. The question is how many Repub seats do they want to lose in 2024 because of Santos.

I, too, knew #Stefanik at Harvard, as a resident tutor in Winthrop House - where after all this she is still inexplicably & shamefully listed among the House’s “distinguished” alumni. I believe what Young, her former friend, says here, is 100% true. But the conclusion (after, again, <gestures at everything>) is not that she has no political principles. It’s that she’s chosen the ones she believes in. And we and the national media should, once again, believe her when she tells us who she is.

That loyalty has already exacted a steep cost. Within the old-line Republican circles that spent years grooming Ms. Stefanik for a different kind of stardom, charting her turn toward Mr. Trump has become a kind of morose parlor game. Mr. Ryan has told associates he now considers her the biggest disappointment of his political career.
