Finally gotten around to starting a blog series on steganography. Something that's fairly niche but seems like it might be getting more important with the need to invisibly mark A.I. generated content. Includes a brief overview of what it is and a simple example of how to do it.

I made a #steganography program with a couple of friends of mine!
Check it out at: https://codeberg.org/steganograpy-devs/steganograpy (It's in Python, hence the name)

New research suggests that AIs can produce perfectly secure steganographic images:
Abstract: Steganography is the practice of encoding secret information into innocuous content in such a manner that an adversarial third party would not realize that there is hidden meaning.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install steghide

#encryption #cryptography #linux #chiffrement #steganography #steganographie

@troglodyt @tomo At this point I'm not too convinced GPG/PGP is a good way to do encrypted communication.
I do get the point however that you're leading at, which is embedded encrypted protocols on platforms & protocols that now cannot be properly encrypted.
That's quite possible. Let's hope they're not dumb enough to keep pushing until bloated AI-generated cat pictures + #steganography start to be the basic unit of communication, otherwise they'll see the resulting DoS on their infra.

How can information hidden using image #steganography be efficiently decoded? Can generative adversarial networks (#GAN) be used to improve the performance of steganalysis?
Read more in a special issue paper “A Novel Approach Based on Modified Cycle Generative Adversarial Networks for Image Steganography” by P G Kuppusamy, K C Ramya, S Sheebha Rani, M Sivaram and Vigneswaran Dhasarathan published in SCPE, Vol. 21, No. 1, (ISSN 1895-1767): https://tinyurl.com/4nzwtndp
Is it possible to fool GPT-3 into offering false answers by forcing the AI to use a false or tricked prompt tool?
The answer appears to be "yes" and that trickery is called "Steganography" -- that means concealing information inside another message to avoid detection. A classic "Trojan Horse" deception.
I asked ChatGPT-4 Plus about GPT-3 being "steganographed" and here is the fascinating conversation.

Wrapped up the new practice puzzle and posted it (and solution) to that site.
(Also below)
This is the one I decided not to hold back for events. Again, just practice.

Worked on puzzles (2) over the weekend, and decided on which to keep back for an event. I’ll share the other soon-ish - not happy with the art portion.
Thank you for your patience.
Have a MARVY day!!! 😎
Testing a new puzzle and working on options for a second. Whichever I don’t use for a CTF event, I’ll post on the site over the weekend.
