This is what #Stellarium thinks the Seattle sky will look like in an hour. Doesn't know about the smoke from Canada.
#Matariki ? Star constellations are just bright dot in the dark sky for you?
The mobile app #stellarium can be entertaining ^^'
It help me enjoy our beautiful dark sky.
ATM Matariki is visible after 4:51AM ^^
Visualizing the "missing" classified sats, over my location at 10PM local tonight.
Using Stellarium.
Would anyone have a good reference on Australian Aboriginal astronomy ? I'd like to try to add the « dark » constellations (like the Emu in the Sky) to Stellarium.
Thanks to @65dBnoise who identified Phobos in this image as well as the bright star Betelgeuse on the left.

Here is a screenshot from #Stellarium to place the image above into context.
#Astrodon #stellarium
As the weather improves and my camping trip to a remote dark sky site approaches, it is time again to get motivated for some EAA. Completely new telescope mount to orient, new software to learn, and a universe to explore. #astronomy #nina #sharpcap #stellarium

#SatellitenFlare gestern Abend gegen 20:31 MEZ.

Gestern Abend kurz raus geschaut.
Also with long exposures and a heavy lens, even a the tiniest #vibration on the tripod can blur the image, even with the sharpest focus. Here’s the same image but cropping around Jupiter. You can see its four biggest satellites, (left to right: #Europa, #Io, #Ganymede and #Callisto, information courtesy of #Stellarium)

#stellarium
If you live near Pretoria/Joburg, and have clear skies tonight, go outside and look west just after sunset as the stars are starting to come out.
Wherever you are in the world, you'll see #Jupiter and #Venus shining as a pair of bright beacons close together, and if you check every night, you'll see them getting closer and closer until 1st March when they start moving apart again.
But for the Pretoria/Joburg crowd, there'll be something extra special! Tonight (26 Feb), at 7:21pm, you'll see a bright satellite passing above Jupiter, and it's a dead rocket body left over from a US Air Force launch in 2005. Tomorrow night (27 Feb) at 7:20pm local time, we'll see the Chinese Space Station pass between Jupiter and Venus!
Both these things will move pretty fast across the sky, so timing is critical - if you're even one minute late, you will miss it, so I recommend heading outside WELL in advance, and just admiring the Jupiter/Venus show until it arrives!
I picked this up on #Stellarium, completely by accident, while checking the separation for the Jupiter/Venus #Conjunction and I haven't been this excited about space stuff in years!
