If you thought the #witchtrials were a high point in #toxic #patriarchy, Tractate Sotah would like to have a word. I mean, I don’t expect the average #Rabbi whose words are recorded in #Talmud to be the most #enlightened. But the #stereotyping about #women is absolutely #offthehook in these pages. Words like #retrograde and #atavistic are spot on here. I’d like to think that most of us have moved beyond whatever that…stuff is. I fear there are too many in power who haven’t, or worse, won’t.

Today's flashback is admittedly weird or perhaps weirder than usual. And I actually find it difficult to discuss because for me it's just common sense to avoid stereotypes. But I understand that society has conditioned us to accept stereotypes as if they were valid.

#Stereotyping is closely related to #Racism because stereotypes often stem from racist beliefs. People do it subconsciously all the time. You must make a conscious effort to stop it.

WHY are stereotypes so hard to die?
Here we see, again, an open call addressed to women 'bound' to the concept of CARE.

So very tired of this... and yes, I admit lately it's getting much, much better but we still have such a looong way to go!

I REALLY appreciate the effort to support women creators but there's a real need for more awareness on the matter...

We need to make #inequalities visible. Yet, if not done carefully, raising awareness of inequality can actually make it worse. Recent research reveals that deficit thinking effect can be triggered from ‘neutral’ charts and graphs, so many people will misinterpret data on social disparities as evidence for blaming those differences on the characteristics of the people being visualized.
