It’s the kind of #prog that ticks boxes for me. Strong songwriting, melodic guitar playing to the fore, complex structures and all round quality musicianship. Everyday and Spectral Mornings bookend a stellar album 9/10

Bellissimo album del mai abbastanza compianto #SeanMalone, un musicista di livello massimo. Incastri #poliritmici stupendi, un mago della #tassellazione musicale.

In questo album con il suo progetto #GordianKnot era riuscito a far collaborare anche #seanreinert #SteveHackett e addirittura il #maestro del drumming #BillBruford che probabilmente aveva intuito quale genio avesse di fronte.

Just paid for the tickets to see #Stevehackett at the #Orpheum Theater later this year...he typically does one set of new material and one of old. This time, the old is the entire Foxtrot album, that I've been obsessed with for fifty years. 👍 😀

Finally going to see the venerable Steve Hackett with his »Foxtrot at 50«-tour tonight in Halle! Bought a ticket for his »Seconds out«-show in Dresden three years ago, then it got postponed due to covid, then we got covid at that date … then bought a new ticket and here we are. Today’s listening is ‘Spectral Mornings’, the 1979 album by Steve Hackett.

The long instrumental end section to the first track ‘Every Day’ could easily have come from a Genesis album and is excellent, as is the closing instrumental title track.

However, what comes between these two tracks is mostly best forgotten, the lyrical content being especially dire.

A few years ago I met Mr Hackett and he signed my copy of this album-he was very nice!

I must have watched this #video about 50 times and it's constantly in my head! I do flick between this version of #SpectralMornings and the #SteveHackett instrumental, but the voice of #DavidLondgon on this #live version is amazing, as always. Not to be left out, #PeteJones nails the #guitar #solo and #harmonies. And let's not forget how great #Magenta are on this, too. I traveled out to Long Island for an amazing show by Steve Hackett at the Patchogue Theater Saturday night. A short first set of his solo material followed by a complete performance of the Genesis album Seconds Out. It was the last night of their US tour.
