Marillion - 'Seasons End' (1990) (Deluxe Edition) (3cd+bluray) (2023)

#Marillion's 1st album with then new singer #SteveHogarth and it's a good one! 'The Space' is such a tremendous track. This Deluxe Edition has a new remix, concert recordings and lots of (visual) extras. A great box set.

Today’s listening is ‘Ice Cream Genius’, the 1997 album by h (otherwise known as Steve Hogarth, the lead singer from Marillion).

On this really enjoyable solo album, Steve Hogarth explored some musical styles and sounds that mostly wouldn’t have been suitable for his day job, although one or two tracks do sound quite ‘Marillion-like’.

My favourite songs are ‘The Evening Shadows’, ‘Cage’ and ‘The Last Thing’.

@rocksmurf @marillion I saw #SteveHogarth in Bonn and it was great. He couldn't believe noone had any questions for him but other than that he was in a great mood and his voice was in very good shape. He forgot the second half of Arc Light though, which was a shame. Did you have fun in Hamburg? And was the venue way too big or did they section a part of it off? (He was complainig about the venue being way too big for him, but the promoter booked it so what can you do...)

Es war sehr großartig! Eine tolle Setlist, mit überraschend wenig Stücken von außerhalb des #Marillion-Kosmos, mit der aber umso deutlicher hervortrat, was für sensationell gute Stücke die Band schreibt. Und #SteveHogarth in bester Form und Laune. Toll! #hnatural #Bonn

@4pi Ja, das geht vielen so. Deswegen muss sich #SteveHogarth ja auch nach über 30 Jahren noch anhören, er sei der "neue" Sänger. Ich kannte die Fish-Marillion gut, weil meine Freundin ein großer Fan war. Bei mir hat's aber erst gezündet, als Hogarth einstieg. Sie haben sich in den Jahrzehnten musikalisch sehr weiter entwickelt.
