A spiteful political move considering the smoke from record wildfires have blanketed the continent for months, the true reasoning for this is to make it look inconvenient, messy, and costly to enact real change.
My political world is a subtly clever one.

In my world trades will knowingly use cheap parts, especially if a brand is going out of business (or name changing), for new homes. Then when the parts inevitably fail, another trade person will be required to fix for hundreds of dollars an hour. If you buy new parts from them, markup will be 300-400%. This scam is perfectly legal and protected. Artists, spending months on their work, are not respected and need to give their work away. Example, free books!
