After #Stitcher's end due to sale to #SiriusXM I finally transferred my podcast subscriptions and reassembled my stations on #ApplePodcasts. Here is the Entrepreneur station.

I've been using other apps to access & listen to my podcast feeds, and am still deciding which one will be the new one (all have things I like but none of them comes out clearly ahead) but today, while I still can, I signed into Stitcher on the Web to take screenshots of the Show Groups.
I loved that, and I loved that I could just look at a group and see what's new there.
I'll continue to feel off-kilter wrt podcasts for a while.
The #Stitcher app and website, including our Stitcher Premium service, will end operations on August 29, 2023. After this date, listeners will no longer be able to access your show on the Stitcher app. Most Stitcher website pages will be redirected to our sister app, #Pandora.
(From Stitcher email)
#PocketCasts seems like a decent alternative but the desktop access only available in the plus subscription. That's not really going to work for me since I do a lot of additions an management of playlists in the morning when I'm browsing on my tablet.

Already eliminating options! At least for now. #Spotify does not allow me to import an opml file. I have hundreds of podcasts that I would want to keep track of.
Spotify no longer an option. #Stitcher #stitcherReplacement

@susankitchens Any final decision on your Stitcher replacement? I have been away for two weeks and just found out I have less than a month! SO SAD! In case anyone cares, I BRIEFLY considered Sirius XM since we have that in our cars but since it took almost 30 mins to sort out the streaming versus regular accounts, decided that the terrible Sirius XM experience we already dislike would likely carry over to any podcast app! #STITCHER is shutting down in less than 30 days.
Don't wanna lose the #podcast #shows you follow?
GO to stitcher.com and log in. Go to SETTINGS.
Click on "Export My Shows"
Download the file.
Upload this file into your current #podcast app.
Boost for others if you found this useful.
#Stitcher is gone in a month. #AntennaPod is a great alternative to Stitcher: #opensource, private (no data collected!), and small APK size. Export your #podcast subscriptions from Stitcher as an OPML file, then import it to AntennaPod.

Just got another reminder that #Stitcher is shutting down at the end of the month. For all my fellow #Android users - what do you use for podcasts?

For some reason there's been a flurry of followers this weekend. Hi. My recent #blog post on the usefulness of #openstandards in #podcasting might be a nice bit of reading as an introduction.

"#SiriusXM may be closing the popular #Stitcher app, but the app should be congratulated for using open standards that make it easy to move your subscriptions to another #podcast app."

@core_ when I said export and import, I was referring to export OPML and import OPML functions in podcast apps.
What I need to do is test various apps to see which one I will use as my podcast listening app when #Stitcher shuts down.
My remarks were what I’ve learned so far about migration and evaluation.
Most important point among the items I listed is the Wait a Day Before Trying Out New App so there are new podcast episodes in the new app.
More on the search for a #StitcherAlternative:
1) Glad they give us 2 months to find a new app
2) #OPML export/import is good
3) TO DO right away: find setting to turn new apps to stream only (no downloads)
4) DO NOT JUDGE/EVAL a new app right away. Install app, export OPML from #Stitcher/import to new app(s), and WAIT a day for new shows to drop.
I was looking at #Overcast— sluggish, unresponsive, incomprehensible
(Why all you ppl love it so?!) until I addressed 3 & 4, above.

@crh I never download episodes unless I am going somewhere with the intention of listening to a podcast where streaming is not an option.
I subscribe to many shows as a smorgasbord of “what could I possibly listen to?” and it’s hit or miss if I listen.
One thing this whole *cough* experience of #Stitcher shutdown offers is the opportunity to clean up my feed.
@voxpelli @feedbin interesting had not heard of that app.
I’ve exported my #Stitcher #OPML file to 2 apps, Overcast and Podbean.
Both have a Something called a playlist (can have multiple), Overcast’s afaict is NOT at all like Stitcher show categories.
Will hafta see if Podbean does that and try out #feedbin as well.
After late 2022’s migrate from bird to wooly mammoth or whale, and newbie pain, I’ll hafta see how patient I am w THIS migration. 2 months to try stuff out.
I am one of those caught out by the shutdown of #stitcher #podcast listening service. (Shuts down Aug 29) I like the app, have used it for years.
I am on iOS devices, and use Apple’s app if I must (meh) and have listened on Spotify if show isn’t available on Stitcher. (Also meh).
Are you on iOS? Do you use a listening app other than 3 I mentioned here? I know I am not the only one looking for a #StitcherAlternative

Twitter implosion

...and now my go to podcast app #stitcher is shutting down in August.
WTH is going on!?!?
