I had almost finished writing a course on the Biblical letter of James, and I was just starting to learn AI image creation using Stable Diffusion. How very handy, I thought. It should be a doddle to create a picture of a 1st-century Jew sitting at a desk writing a letter. It turns out the AI thinks 1st-century Jews wrote with ballpoint pens ... and wore a Kippah ... and had long hair and a beard - none of these is true. After several days I got this:
