Heya, my siblings. Today's question is brought to you by the festival of lights:

What winter holiday traditions do you happen to follow?

For a detail of ’s Saints Anthony Abbot & Lucy, c. 1470.

St Lucy holds her own eyes before her, an attribute variously associated with the brutality of her martyrdom or an act of self mutilation to dissuade a suitor.

The Scandinavian tradition of wearing a crown of light on her feast day connects to a different story, in which she wore a wreath of candles to carry supplies to Roman Christians hiding in the catacombs.

Happy ! Today is a beloved holiday in Sweden and other parts of Scandinavia. St. Lucia's Day is a celebration of light in the long, dark winters. As with most legends, the story has many versions. Generally they come back to St. Lucia wearing a crown of candles to light the way as she brought food to those in hiding.
What are some ways someone has brought you light this winter?
