A VIRTUAL TOUR OF SCOTLAND

We take a boat west from St Ninian's Cave across the mouth of Luce Bay to the Mull of Galloway, the craggy punctuation point that brings the Rhins of Galloway to an abrupt end; and Scotland's most southerly point. The image shows the Mull of Galloway lighthouse. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/dru

A VIRTUAL TOUR OF SCOTLAND

Four miles west by road and on foot or a little further round the coast by boat is St Ninian's Cave. This was used by St Ninian as a place of retreat and prayer in the 390s and there are carvings left by pilgrims as far back as the 8th century as well as more recently. Happy St Andrew’s Day! In 2013 my mum found this perfect saltire stone washed up on the beach in front of St Ninian’s Cave near Whithorn. Ninian (c. 360-432) established a church at Whithorn and is credited as the first missionary to Scotland.
