We passed Chris on Elektra (www.pink-narrowboat.com) and stopped for a chat about his boating plans and our boating planes given the upcoming closure of the Bosley and Marple flights of locks. He's heading up.

Then we had the brown water (toilet) pumped out, filled the fresh water (drinking, washing), and worked one last lock to reach the lower end of the Macclesfield.

First we stopped at Middleport pottery works along the Trent & Mersey.

Then we came across a carpenter-joiner and ordered a wall-mounted cabinet for my clothes, which will be built in a few months. (Ahem. Someone is tired of me keeping my clothes all over the bed, and I concede it looks slovenly.)

After a day of boating in the sun, it's dinner and dessert: salmon beans, cabbage salad, tossed salad, fruitcake, brandy, cheese.

I just walked along the towpath to Stoke-on-Trent rail station.

In England and Wales, canals came first. From 3 decades later, once steam-engine rail was invented, tracks were laid alongside—because the canals had already worked out the most level routes.

I'm waiting on the platform for our London visitor, Morag, who is bringing a folding bike for us, and will stay this week as we head.

It's nonstop birds and hawthorns in bloom, out here in the middle of nowhere, clear of the industrial outskirts of Stoke-on-Trent.

Spring on the Caldon canal seems to be a few weeks behind the rest of the midlands, judging by what's blooming and the size of moorhen chicks and goose goslings.

We boated through a big honkfest today, on the Caldon canal. The geese were honking before, during and after our passage through what was clearly disputed water. They had a lot to say to each other, with their head bobbing and their hissy necks. I saw no goslings or nests.

By the way, seeing this interaction TOTALLY explains the expression "silly goose".

@alabut one can bodysurf without any equipment, but I use a pair of fins to match the speed of the wave and enter it, and usually I have two handplanes as well. I’s not dissimilar to bodyboarding. There’s a lot of different ways to ride waves! In addition to that, surfboards, there’s kneeboards, skimboards, paipos, kiteboarding, windsurfing and variations of them all. Check out a documentary called “Dirty Old Wedge” for the most extreme version of bodysurfing. #stoke

Logorrhea effects many in different ways and can be temporary or permanent, occasional or constant. Sometimes unfamiliar or awkward situations, can trigger mild to moderate logorrhea in persons with disabilities, that may seldom manifest the phenomenon.

I sometime experience occasionally logorrhea brought on by stressors, unfamiliar encounters and exacerbation of disability symptoms. Brain Injury can magnify personal traits.

 I’ve often said it sometimes changes the phrase “gift of gab" to “master of the run-on sentence”. As a result, I have missed out on some interactions, experiences and potentially new friends; all because logorrhea came to visit that day or week.

Wernicke’s and Broca’s area will be explored more in future posts.  There are so many people living with disabilities whose communications are effected by these areas of the brain.

 TBI Voices project looks to shed light on logorrhea in an effort to bring greater understanding for those that occasionally, and permanently live with it.  Check out that link, and the link with more on Wernicke’s and Broca’s area

If one breaks one's leg, they may have touble walking, patience and understanding is key. The same is true for the brain and communication.

Logorrhea can effect individuals with #InvisibleDisabilities in various ways.  The person on the street incessantly talking to themselves, seemingly unaware that anyone is around? This is an example of severe and incoherent #logorrhea.

Wernicke's (speech) area, a part of the brain involved in the comprehension of written and spoken language, play a large role.  Broca’s area is another that is mainly involved in speech production.

Increased activation in Broca’s area as well as the primary auditory cortex can also cause some individuals to “hear” voices that are not really there.  Damage to both areas can cause communication limitations for many with #disabilities.

Some disabilities effected in this way include:

#Aphasia, #TBI, #Aphantasia  and other neurological health issues including Wernicke's #encephalopathy, #Korsakoff's #amnesic syndrome, and Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome.

In psychology, logorrhea or logorrhoea (from #AncientGreek λόγος logos "word" and ῥέω rheo "to flow") ...causes excessive wordiness and repetitiveness, ...often reported as a symptom of Wernicke's aphasia,… (also) ...commonly classified as a symptom of... #BrainInjury.
