Snakeing forward through grey dust, barely a league an orbit was covered by those #stolid elders who had experienced it all before. We young ones were still fleet. Soon, when enough of us had moved across the plain, Hibiscus111 would land, reap enough of us for their needs, then leave. I was not old enough for this reaping, nor was I old enough to be ploughed back into the starving land. I must keep walking.

Tendrils of smoke raked the sky as I crested the ridge of low hills. Ahead the ground dropped and a country road wound through a shallow valley. On the road people flowed downhill like water, slow, #stolid, inexorably moving forward, drawn by the visitor; lining up to meet a God.
