GM #StomaBuds, please make sure you do not skip any meals when you have an #Ostomy. We get frustrated w/leaks & feel penalized when we eat, but not eating causes gas. And lots of it + you need the vitamins & minerals. We lose so much thru output & we can't afford to lose more.
GM #StomaBuds, changing your whole #Ostomy bag requires time & patience. The more care you take in applying it properly, the less chance for leaks & skin irritation.

Hi #StomaBuds, happy Thanksgiving. If you had told me 10 years ago I would have needed an #Ostomy, I probably would have said, no way, I can't do it, I won't.
And that's what happened 4 yrs ago. Honestly, now that I know how to manage, it is no big deal. I am happy with my body & can hardly remember life before #Ostomy. IT IS NOT WORST CASE SCENARIO. My #Ostomy literally saved my life. I can do hard things. 💪 I can help you or your pts with theirs.
GM #StomaBuds, while your rectum may have been removed, you may still have a #RectalStump. From time to time you may feel like you're having a bowel movement. So go to the bathroom & sit on the toilet. Let nature take its course. The feeling fades with time. Speak to your Dr 2.
GM #StomaBuds, with Thanksgiving a few days away, you can experiment with foods. Turkey, potatoes, stuffing all good. Be careful with veggies & fruits & please watch sugar intake. Sugar acts as a laxative & will cause more output. Carbs & protein will help thicken up bag contents.
Hi #StomaBuds, if you have a #Stoma, celebrate your life. For many, an #Ostomy may have been a worst case scenario. I challenge you to look at your #Ostomy as a second chance at life. A life where you can plan things & follow through.
