While there were some obvious flaws (I felt that David Krumholtz was a weak link in an otherwise strong cast, and there was a bit too much exposition disguised as dialog), I really quite liked the play. Reading the reviews today I feel that most of the reviewers didn't quite "get" the play.

The run-up to the Holocaust is well-trodden ground but not, before, by as great a playwright as Tom Stoppard. Given the topic and playing in New York, the audience was mostly folks like me - middle-class Jews in their 60’s and 70’s. It felt like it was aimed straight at us - with the message “it’s still happening, and now they’re coming for you and your families.”
