I'm going to celebrate by writing a 1,000-word ghost story with the prompt ‘Last Christmas’. Anyone else up for it?

Now that is an interesting question.

Vampires burn under light from the sun.
Werewolves transform in the light of the full moon.

But the light of the moon is simply reflected sunlight. So why do vampires not die on moonlight nights, or werewolves fully turn into wolves in the daytime?

It seems clear that something about the moon alters the quality of the reflected light. Imagine a SF story where astronauts discover what causes this. What are the implications?
