Kamarád má potíže s US SIM kartou ve svém iPhone. #storytime

Kamarád se přestěhoval z USA do Česka. Stále ale pracuje pro Ameriku, takže si mimo jiné ponechal své americké číslo a tím pádem je tu ve věčném roamingu.

Aby to ještě bylo vtipnější, tak dané číslo má jako eSIM. Jako druhou SIM si pořídil český T-Mobile, aby mu čeští kamarádi nemuseli furt volat přes WhatsApp.

Tak včera mu iPhone na té americké SIM začal hlásit "No SIM"

There's as many different planning styles as there are people who plan things. Whatever makes you happy - from a cheap notepad and that crappy ballpoint that you got from a tradeshow to a super high end paper planner to the notes app on your phone to a synchronized set of digital planning tools.

If it keeps you on track, then it's good enough, and good enough is perfect.

I'll keep y'all updated on the Aura Estelle though!

Planners are there to *serve you*, not the other way around. If it sucks, find a different way to organize.

If it works for a year, and then you need something different? You didn't fail. You found something that worked for a year! (or a month, or whatever!)

Organization is a process, not a pass/fail class. Like everything else in life, it's OK if you switch from system to system as your needs and lifestyle change.

Use what works. Care tasks are morally neutral.

If I end up needing more writing space, I may just grab a TR dot grid notebook (or legit I may have one of them kicking around already >.> I wouldn't be surprised) to use for major list making and note-taking.

And you know. If it doesn't work, I'll grab a Cousin Avec (to cut down on bulk) and use that.

Because the Number One Rule of Planners is - If it works, use it. If it doesn't don't.

There will be a 2024 Dated planner, and if this is my Holy Grail (for now) I'll possibly get that one when it releases in October.

For September, I'm gonna try this undated one and see how it goes.

I maaaaaay also get a Jibun Techo Standard, just so I have my hot little hands on one, since they sell out like hotcakes. As always, that I'll get from JetPens because they rock.

The Aura Estelle Complete Weekly is an undated planner, made in the US, with monthly and weekly pages, and then 2 pages of grid paper in between each weekly. It's on Tomoe River paper. It's A5 sized (like the Cousin) and the columns are the same width as the Cousin.

Meaning my sticker kits will work.

And it's undated, so I can give it a test flight for a bit and see if it's going to work out. I'm pretty optimistic.

It's about time to start ordering 2024 planners - Jibun and Hobonichi both come out the first of September in the US.

So I started digging. It looked like the Jibun Techo Standard was going to be my Huckleberry - with the one problem that it's columns are 3mm smaller than the Hobonichi Cousin.

All my stickers would have to be trimmed (and I have rather a lot of sticker kits right now).

And then someone mentioned the Aura Estelle.

When I started paper planning again, I desperately needed month/week/year planning. I used it for EVERYTHING.

But since then I've gotten a new job, and my new boss has a system for how she wants tasks tracked, and how she wants tickets handled. This means my work task list isn't going into my planner every day, just big things... which I put on my weekly list.

And most of a Cousin is daily pages. It's a chonker of a planner, even with TR paper.

What makes the Cousin special?

A few things - it's one of the few planners with yearly, monthly, weekly, AND daily planning pages. It's on Tomoe River paper, so it's excellent.

And it's *popular* - meaning there's kits and stickers and youtubers and all that jazz for literally everything you'd want to do with it. (Which is how I found it, if we're being honest.)

It's expensive, but worth every dime if you use it and love it!

So for today's #BlaugustPost I'm gonna talk about PLANNERS.

I've been a Hobonichi Cousin devotee for the last two years, and for the longest time it was exactly what I needed. But I'm finding that I don't use the daily pages as much as I'd like - and in fact, some weeks I don't use them at all.

I have a layout in my weekly that covers all the big stuff, and then work stuff is going in our PM tool.

So let's go planner diving.

About a year ago, a friend introduced me to the guy at her company responsible for their graphic design. Long story short, I interviewed for a remote, contractor gig, did a sample, and we got on fine — then suddenly, on my first project, he was dismissive of me and my work and told me to take a hike.
