Been playing my most unhinged #DnD character yet in #CurseOfStrahd and have found that, despite absolutely hating this module, that very dislike of the setting has allowed me to:
1. Play up my Arcane Trickster Rogue's fear of the place, and
2. When he's afraid, he becomes a ridiculous chatterbox, and
3. I'm playing a bard in all but mechanics, which means he
4. Solicited #Strahd at lvl 2 as an attempt to get out of being stabbed. Almost worked, too. XD Strahd stabbed someone else unstead.

So long as I live, I will not understand the praise #dnd #5e #ttrpg players give to "Curse of #strahd ".

The vampire fantasy is typically about either being the vampire or hunting the vampire--not just flailing helplessly in an endless swamp of sad ppl and deadly encounters.

Oh and, SPOILER ALERT, you can't win and can't really save anyone. You can maybe leave--yaa victory.

I had an excellent DM who loved that module and it was the worst experience I've ever had in a TTRPG.

I have to remember to start looking at White Wolf again. I really wanted to love #Scionttrpg when it came out - I just had a bad experience with a storyteller. I'm still firmly engrossed in urban fantasy as a writer. Just have to see if there's a way to do this without it getting as potentially trauma-inducing as Curse of Strahd was to my players.

To be wholly fair to them, Strahd can be very soul crushing if you get into the reeds with it (and aren't a murder hobo to some extent. )

Spielerhandbuch #dnd5e bestellt. Huch, warum das denn? Hab Bock auf genau das, wovon andere zugunsten von Alternativen wegwollen. Fantasy-Superhelden, Powers, Level und die wunderbar zusammengewürfelte dnd-Welt aus Mythologie, Popkultur und Drüber-ness. Zudem wird es den Kindern gefallen. Plane, eins der dicken Abenteuer dieser Edition zu leiten, natürlich stark angepasst, geöffnet und verrückt. Schiele auf #Strahd oder #DragonHeist. Und #greyhawk!

@BasicActionGames @chadarius uses sound/music in our Strahd 5e game. Ambient, Bard performance, he has a sound board he prefers. I especially appreciate the Pelor sounds he chooses for some specific spells. Since I'm the cleric 🤣

It doesn't help that a few folks wandered away afterwards due to [*hand wave*] reasons, so that version of the group is bunk. I still want to run it (good gods I want to run #Strahd again, I was super close to reaching out to Takahata to do some character-specific voice lines) but it'll be some time before that happens again.

Has anyone done something interesting with the Mad Mage in the Curse of #Strahd Campaign? It seems like such a nothing burger in the source material. #DnD
