Stratification is required for many seeds to germinate better. Instead of putting seeds in a wet paper towel in the fridge, I put the seeds into some half composted tree leaves outdoor while it rains in winter. A major disadvantage is that some birds will scratch around and eat the seeds. But that's ok. I don't need a 100% success rate.

Stratification and its hormonal biochemistry is being studied in recent years. Here is a paper.

He addresses this gap by discussing the social positioning of high-skilled #migrants in contemporary societies: Schäfer argues that the theories of #Bourdieu and Vester have not grasped high-skilled #migration thoroughly but also shows that migrant theories inadequately address the sources of stratification.

ICON-Coast encompasses all #coastal areas around the globe within ocean-biogeochemistry model #HAMOCC naturally accounting for two-way coupling of ocean-shelf feedback mechanisms at the global scale.

Results are more realistic (compared to coarser MPI-ESM) in representing a number of variables: the position of the #tidal front in the coastal ocean and the strength of the #seasonal #stratification.
This enhances the realism of the modeled ocean #CarbonCycle.

This fig shows the diff in the avg. # of children between women who employ a live-in domestic worker and women who don't, by age and edu. attainment in Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico 1970-2010. Positive values indicate more children among employers (patronas/patroas in Spanish/Portuguese).
