Today's #soundtrack is #AyanaTsuji and her live performance, Live In Montréal.

She and her cohort perform #Sibelius , #Stravinsky, and a tickle of Saint-Saëns to a ridiculously high level.

Melodies which lighten, grandiosity which humbles, a delicacy which inspires, and a passion that will tear out your heart.

I wanted a chill day but my 'music to-do' list said 'oh my sweet summer child' and kicked me in the feelz.

Awards, praise, and accolades for this then 18 year old wunderkind.

Reiner / Chicago Symphony - Prokofieff - Lieutenant Kije / Stravinsky - Song of the Nightingale

A beautiful 1957 recording of a couple of classic repertoire pieces by the Chicago Symphony, this is a really well known example of an "audiophile" recording, even when there was no such thing...just good practices.

(Featured also because the Gabriel album cover was a picture of a man from the shoulders up, and I am amused by the contrast.)

Igor Stravinsky conducts his own Oedipus rex at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris in 1952, with Jean Cocteau (who directed the production) ranting away at a re-vamped version of his own narratrion, the great Léopold Simoneau as Oedipus, and Eugenia Zareska as Jocasta.

Oedipus rex was first performed in Paris #OTD in 1927.
