Streamflows have been low in the Central and Southern Plains and the Pacific Northwest for a while. Conditions are becoming drier in the Midwest and eastern US.
The red dots indicate “low,” meaning that the estimated is the lowest value ever measured for the day.

The real-time map shows very low flows in parts of the eastern US, the Southeast, the Central and Southern Plains and parts of the West.
The below normal 7-day average map indicates estimated flows that may be new record lows in red.

I am happy to announce that Efrat Morin just added the second Caravan Community Extension, adding 95 basins in Israel to the Caravan project. These 95 basins come with daily data, meteorological forcings, catchment attributes, and basin polygons.

Going way back for today’s . Here’s me and my eldest child doing field work downstream of Elliot Glacier on Mt. Hood, . Our project focused on how was affecting from catchments with . But a Debris Flow made a mess of one our sites! Rain on snow & ice sitting on unstable weathered volcanic rock produced pretty spectacular in action.

Neighboring streams share a heartbeat (nonexeedance probabilities) and having your finger (a USGS gauge station) on one can help you predict the pulse (timeseries) at another.
