At the time #ActivityPub became recommendation the people involved knew that important improvements were required in future iterations. This just never happened. Specs never evolved and projects created their own solutions.
For many years, what's now #Streams and #Nomad protocol, created by @mike has had nomadic identity. Why this hasn't picked up by other projects? Idk, getting such adoption is likely just as hard as evolving specs.

Not all #autotrophs fix carbon through #photosynthesis. Some #bacteria (lithoautotrophs) use the minerals leached from rock for energy. Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans metabolizes pyrite with oxygen to produce sulfites and sulfuric acid. This causes Acid Mine Drainage #AMD in #streams that drain old coal mines. This *very acidic discharge is oxidized as it contacts air, turning iron bright orange (rust), and contains many #toxic metals.

THIS is my “happy place”! On #backpacking trips, I seek out #streams to camp near. In addition to falling asleep listening to the gurgling sounds of the #stream, I love to have dinner down by the stream, enjoying the sight and sounds of the rushing water as the sun sets. Just now returned from a two-day #backpacking trip in the White #Mountains, #NewHampshire! (was planning a longer trip…but…the…rain…) I looped around the base of a mountain, #hiking along miles of beautiful #streams and #waterfalls, many water crossings, plus a trek over a ridge.
