Our cities need urgently to stop thinking in terms of "complementarity" of transport modes, and start to HIERARCHIZE and PRIORITIZE them by favouring the most economical modes in terms of space, energy and pollution.

To improve the situation traffic could be diverted off the high street, or it could be turned into a one way street, to allow decent provision for more sustainable transport. I'd love to see more places where people could sit out side, too, as it's a very sociable community. And maybe some trees
@BrentToderian Portobello High Street on the edge of the city of Edinburgh. The high street has loads of small independent shops, and it's an active community with lots going on. There's a decent bus service too. But there's no provision at all for cyclists, and the high street is dominated by traffic noise and pollution

@BrentToderian I would love to see an overpass built above the current TransCanada Highway (from Golf Course Hill on Vancouver Island South of Duncan to Herd Road north of Duncan) used as the Trans Canada Highway and the current 4 lane hway made into a two lane local traffic only road with a lane for bikes, a lane for roller skaters and skate boarders, a lane for walkers and a park space in the middle with artisan kiosks and food kiosks. #streetsforpeople
@BrentToderian I live in old town of Porvoo, Finland. A medieval town and city plan, with cobblestoned, narrow alleys and old houses, and during the summer and X-mas seasons, a lot of tourists. I'd like to ban cars from the whole area, but if I must choose only one street, it'd be the main street Kirkkokatu. It is used A LOT just to drive through to other parts of Porvoo. Parts that could be reached by other routes, too. It can get dangerous with all the traffic that it now has #StreetsForPeople

Put in pedestrian access wide enough for parents to pass both ways.
