Thorn of a Honey Locust (I think), planted as a #StreetTree -- this is a N American species in the pea or legume family #Fabaceae. A similar introduced 'thorn tree' is encountered in southern Africa and has a bad rep as invasive, thought it could also be seen as worldmaking. The pea family is formidable and important, immense powers of foraging, and third largest flowering plant family. The thorns must have evolved to deter species long extinct.
The #GothicRevival #Cudworth House of #Assonet — before partially burning down — during #Halloween times. About as #Spooky a house as you can get in New England and yes it is in the #BridgewaterTriangle and yes it is purportedly #Haunted .

The #SugarMaple #Acer_saccharum specimens out front are truly exemplary and perhaps siblings of my now-departed #StreetTree

Unless I’m mistaken, when one normally requests the #wood to be left from a now-deceased #StreetTree you aren’t generally expecting a log about the size of a Honda Civic balanced on top of other logs and partially into the sidewalk.
