It is a life threatening and life altering accident. I had a stroke and was a very active able body person before the accident. I want to learn about others journeys under #StrokeRecovery. I went out to eat on Friday and didn't wear my AFO ankle foot orthesisc. I have trouble picking my foot up, but was able to walk without brace. It was a rough walk foot was dragging, but I managed.#strokerecovery

Speech therapist has recommended to install some android games for my mom where she would have to drag elements across the tablet screen. This should improve her hand dexterity and movement precision. Do you know any such games?

I'm so happy for her progress, such exercises would be impossible just two weeks ago.

As for the speech problems, at first she was able to talk spontaneously but her speech was full of perseverations and incoherent sentences. Now she is more reserved, sometimes almost mute. I hope we can work on that

So on Xmas Monday morning my mom had to be taken to the hospital again due to a high fever and further cognitive impairment. Apparently her high creatinine values were a result of an UTI not dehydration. CT scan has thankfully ruled out another stroke.

The fever is gone, cognitively she was relatively fine on Tuesday but since then there was a steady decline.

My mom was discharged from hospital today and is going to stay with us at home for the next week. She is clearly tired and has some kind of aphasia, but at least she manages to be awake for longer periods of time now and sometime I am able to get a logical response from her.

I'm not even posting here that much, but my mom had a thalamic stroke 18 days ago and is supposed to get out of a hospital this Friday. The first two weeks has been really heavy on me, it breaks my heart to see an active teacher struggling with words and simple sentences, but there has been some improvement since Monday - she remembers who has visited her a day before, isn't suddenly falling asleep and has been walking a little with a walking frame.

It's been a long day.
I slept almost 8 hours. I did some stuff around the house and took care of the pets and myself. Also I made a pitcher of iced tea.
It feels like I hit a wall and am exhausted.
This has happened a lot since I had my stroke a year ago. It's so frustrating.
