You Can Trust Me is a suspense novel that was just released today. I enjoyed it for the strong female characters and their friendship. I kept turning pages to find out what happened next.

I grew up with #strongfemalecharacter all my life. I'm in my 40s. They were angry.

But I get why there is a pushback in culture.

It's the shock when women push back, finally lose their patience. We're called bitches, ball breakers. When we react like any human being would when pushed too far. Women aren't allowed to be angry.

But to folks who are shocked it's out of character.

Be OOC. Change the narrative in your stories.

Explain the rage. Perhaps then we can move beyond it.

Rebecca in Ivanhoe is a good example of an Interesting Female Character. She has little agency in a world of Christians and men, but she uses that agency in very revealing ways that show her strength of will and her beliefs. She’s not “strong” in the physical sense, but that doesn’t matter. #writing #StrongFemaleCharacter
