What was good today is that #Corran #ferry is broken and cars need a long detour to reach the road we were taking to go there. So we had a quiet scenic road from #Strontian mostly for ourselves.
What was cool is that the #Scottish #Highland council maintains a foot passengers and #cyclists ferry there... and it's for free! (Apart from the #NHS) I don't think I had ever had a great service for free in #Britain :) So, much appreciated!

Today we were #cycling our way from #Strontian to #Glencoe. Great scenery, but after crossing with the ferry not such good road conditions...
I appreciate a lot of the #British ways, but not when it comes to #road #planning and #driving wrt #cyclists and #pedestrians.

Today was often wet, which was fine as we were staying in the same accommodation as yesterday. And above #Strontian, there's a good place for some easy #mountainBiking, with a rocky path, a #singleTrack one and great views.
Tomorrow due to be dryer, we'll be off to #Glencoe by the road and #ferry - which accepts only #foot passengers and #cyclists at present!

And today, first leg of our #cycling journey: from #Glenfinnan train station (best known for its #HarryPotter viaduct) to #Strontian, 37 km 800 m+. Half on a rocky path along the loch, quite pleasant, the other half on road but with (we guess) a section at 12-14%...!
All that still in good #Scottish #weather - we're lucky #stormBetty didn't quite reach here.

One route that seems doable and enjoyable for us is ferry from #FortWilliam to #Camusnagaul, then road-cycle 42km to #Strontian, stopping there for the night (BnB, recommendations?), in the morning cycle up the road (300m↑, 10km) to #Polloch and then take the #LochShiel forestry road to #Glenfinnan (21km, probably a lot of up and down). From there, there are 2 trains back to #FortWilliam at 5pm ad 7pm.
Comments welcome + I'm looking for similar plans in other places!

A Free Church congregation in Strontian, Ardnamurchan, launched their floating church.
The local laird refused them permission to build a church on his land, so they "crowdfunded" £1,400 to get a Clyde shipbuilder to make a floating church. The church was moored in Loch Sunart & was 80ft long & 24ft wide. It could hold a congregation of 400.
