Counter-intuitive solution?

Instead of treating the search for an instance like the Hogwarts house selection process in Harry Potter novels, I chose the one I am in based on its 'leader', #Stux, whom I knew of because of his Patreon connections, and I was sure anything he was involved with would be smoothly and efficiently managed (I was right). And also because it is small.

AI is not my thing, but I use the federated timeline.

Anyone can scale Mastodon in a technical manner. That is the easy part. It’s the moderation, and *one* person being in control of moderation. I intentionally brought moderators onto #Tooters way early on to help me scale what I cannot do myself…satisfying people in an objective manner.

I’ve been down this road before (shout out to my PHP bulletin board peeps) and I am telling you from experience that an admin cannot be central to the control of the community.

I should build up a community based on values I believe in just to have some admin across the pond throw a pissy fit, and now I’m spending my evening answering the question of “why is this person doing this?” just because they have a user base that hasn’t gotten hip to the bullshit yet?

So, my instance admin (#stux) thinks #Meta is good, by default, and will need evidence that their behavior in the #Fediverse is negative.

This is deliberately ignoring the history of #Meta, #Facebook, and #MarkZuckerberg, which is a trait I've seen too often in my life, and especially since 2015, in white men, especially, other white people, and their sycophants.

#Meta, by default, is horrible. How they behave in the Fediverse, if they connect, remains to be judged.

@cathywilcox The kind of places that constrain or insist on content warnings for political cartoons are probably not places in which to remain - good old #wowsers - #ContentWarnings should be saved for utterances by people like Scomo, Palmer, Dutton, De Santos, Meloni, Orban, Trump, Taylor-Greene etc etc.

Recently, I’ve started to use #Nextcloud on stuxhost.
Stuxhost is being run by #stux who is administration mstdn.social.

I was considering that selfhosting Nextcloud on a VPS. But that’s little bit difficult and using high-performance VPS is expensive for me.

I’m enjoying to use stux’s Nextcloud so much❤❤😺

The other week I responded to @natesilver538 and @Elonnmusk (I am not sure that is *the* Elon) on their nasty comments about Mastodon in general and #Stux in particular

I must have hit at least one nerve - I can still see Nate's tweet, but not Elon's. Perhaps I got under Elon's skin? (not enough to get banned, but enough so that he just doesn't want me to see *his* nasty tweets?)
