A social paradoxon, Rio suburb observations

One thing was never so eye catching to me:

A) Passing through the airport I observed plenty of lonely party-travelars talking about "how cool" everything was. They appeared kind of mix of childish dumb ignorant to me. Ppl. I wouldn't discuss with, cause they behave like: I reject everything that doesn't serve my pleasure.

B) Meanwhile my host family permitted me finally to go to the city center in the evening. (I think they exaggerate with care taking) However, the kids partying there appeared to me like small adults. A 12 yo. or so jumped of a scooter with a 14 yo. driver and while jumping took something off his pants I feared it would have been a gun.

In Contrast: This paradoxon came to the max. contrasts on a Rio carneval bloco with predominantly 20-30 yrs. old partying (while partially living still on their parents expenses) and buying bear from 12 years old boys that went through and accepted already all sorts of hell and pro-actively try to find solutions to escape criminality.
