Well, if the federal one goes away, they won't be able to pay less than the federal minimum wage of $7.25/hr without an exemption to the federal minimum wage, just less than the Missouri minimum wage of $11.15/hr.

I also wonder if this level of resistance in MO is recent.

In 2016, the Republican platform was much stauncher on eliminating subminimum wage than the Democrats' was. Several red states like New Hampshire and Alaska produced the first laws to end subminimum wage, and Dems were the biggest barriers in states like Texas.

Then the Biden Administration finally comes on board (after NOT being onboard for years) and suddenly all the Republicans flip sides.
