Yeah, absolutely. And it's a rather sad state of affairs, given that submission by definition isn't weakness. To deliberately give up some portion of your autonomy requires courage, a decent dollop of introspection and building a stable relationship.

Not to mention, to let someone else control you, you need to be able to have control of yourself first.
It's really why we need to separate gender from power exchange and make it clear that, while power exchange dynamics may appear to be based on superiority / inferiority, it's based on a mutual fulfillment of needs / wants.
